Therapeutic Cupping is a modality used to bring circulation back to an area that is congested such as tight muscle, scar tissue, inflammation, and much more.
Fertility massage is a modality that focuses on bringing healthy blood flow and circulation back to the organs. This modality supports fertility, conception, and pregnancy through post - partum as well as healing from pain and discomfort, both physical and mental.
Scar tissue repair slides right under both therapeutic cupping and fertility massage as both of those modalities deal with scar tissue being a major congestant of blood flow. Scars not only inhibit blood flow but muscular and potentially organ function as well. Scars can inhibit and be healed no matter the size, no matter how old, but it's always best to get a head start on healing!
Cupping Therapy dates back all the way to 1550 BC when the Ancient Egyptians would use it for medicinal treatments for anything from minor ailments to more serious diseases. It is most commonly practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is a large part of Eastern Medicine.
Cupping is commonly used to heal muscular discomfort and injuries as well as increasing overall blood flow to aid in organ function. Along with stimulating blood flow, it helps the lymphatic system to work more efficiently in clearing out toxins from the body.
When cupping, cups will usually be placed over areas of pain, muscular adhesions(knots), scars, or areas of injury(once healed). In all of these areas, you will find blood stagnation which, when released, will be able to function and circulate normally, go back to a healthy blood flow, and heal the damaged tissue.
The result of cupping will oftentimes look like a version of the images pictured here. It appears to be a bruise but the correct name is petechiae(pe-tea-key-a) or ecchymosis(ek-i-moe-sis). These cupping marks can show where the client is most in need of improved circulation.
Cupping should not cause any pain to the client and if this is the case will be adjusted to the client's comfort. The first few cupping sessions will most likely cause darker marks due to the stagnation but should, over time, become lighter as the muscle heals.
Cupping is ideal for those who are experiencing extreme tightness and tension and are not seeing lasting improvement through their massage sessions.
Fertility-enhancing massage is a modality focused on the abdominal region including the lower rib cage, stomach region, abdominal muscles, pelvic attachments as well as the lower back and pelvic attachments that connect the lower back to the glutes and the pelvic floor.
The modality used is the Claire Marie Miller method. This method gently but intensely digs deep into the bound-up tissue and muscular attachments that are causing the congestion and works to release those. This in turn allows for the renewed blood flow to push out the congested blood and bring the tissue back to healthy function. This is especially helpful for those who have specific reproductive disorders such as PCOS, and Endometriosis. Additionally, through surgery, trauma, stress, childbirth, childbearing, and many other factors, women develop tightness and tension that can pull and constrict blood flow which can make it difficult or painful to conceive.
In these situations, people don't usually think about the actual physical restraints that may be affecting them. This is one of the many wild and fascinating ways the body is connected and something that medical professionals don't always take into consideration.
This technique and modality are great for those hoping to conceive or who have noticed a constriction in reproductive health or GI issues. Reach out to learn more!
Scar tissue, as mentioned above, not only affects the surrounding tissue by contracting as it scars over but also can affect the muscles and mobility of the affected area. Depending on where the scar is it can have very deep and lasting effects, for example, a cesarean scar which is made across the abdomen and through 7 layers of different tissues can cause considerable tightness and tension with movement as simple as sitting up and as complicated as causing bowel issues later in life. Scar tissue massage can penetrate through all the affected layers over time and cause considerable damage and discomfort.
This is easily resolved with focused work and can make a world of difference over time. Whether its from a c-section or a childhood injury, you never know what they can be hiding.
